State Street Subway
The
State Street Subway, one of two on the CTA system, is on the Howard (North
Side Lines)/Dan Ryan (Red) line. This subway, completed after WWII,
runs from just south of Armitage on the north side under the loop and emerges
south of the loop near Roosevelt Road. Originally the south side
lines were the Englewood/Jackson Park group, but a recent realignment has
connected those lines to the Lake Street (Green) line.
