Connecticut Company
Glastonbury Freight Line
On September 21, 1938, a
devastating hurricane prompted the Conn. Company to convert their Hartford
to Glastonbury line to buses. A small freight operation using freight
motors 2022 and 2023 were at the Pratt & Whitney plant in Glastonbury
so that freight could be interchanged to the New Haven Railroad. Express
cars 2022 and 2023 were then equipped with Yellow Coach bus engines and
continued to switch freight cars until a replacement diesel was borrowed
from the New Haven R.R. in the early 1960s. 2022 is in this photo.
