TRACTION AROUND NORTH
AMERICA
#D16 is a self-propelled
electric crane that stayed with TMER&T and was inherited by Milwaukee
&Suburban Transport. It was used at Cold Spring Shops until the mid
1960s before being donated to TWERHS. I possess a Paul Weyrich photos
of this unit working the Milwaukee Road interchange at Cold Spring during
1964-'65. M&ST could still use electric rail equipment at Cold Spring
because of 600 VDC used by the trackless trolleys. It is listed as a 4
motor Utility Derrick, manufactured by Brown Hoist Company in 1923 on an
inventory list dated December 31, 1946. TWERHS later sold #D16 to the Illinois
Railway Museum.
