TRACTION AROUND NORTH AMERICA
Los Angeles Metropolitan Transit Authority #1543 is a "Blimp" interurban car built by American Car & Foundry in 1911.  Originally Interurban Electric Railway #379, it was sold to the Pacific Electric in 1944 to become PE #4640 (later PE #435).  Owned by LAMTA from 1958 until final abandonment in 1961, it was the only "Blimp" repainted in LAMTA two-tone green and white.  It is now at Travel Town in Griffith Park, Los Angeles, with one side and one end painted LAMTA green and the other side and end painted faded PE red.
