Penn Central #4715 is an S-2 "S Motor" electric locomotive built in 1906 by Alco/GE.  Formerly New York Central #115, the engine was originally #3415 and also wore #1115 while on the NYC.  It was retired around 1980 and acquired by the Shore Line Trolley Museum, but could not be moved to the museum's site due to weight restrictions.  It was then acquired by IRM, where it has been on display since 1981.  During the late 1980's and early 1990's #4715 was operated at Union using a South Shore Line pantograph that IRM retrofitted to the unit, making it the only "S Motor" ever to operate outside of the New York City area.
