Los Angeles Railway
320 on Route U at Vermont
1947
All of the standards we have seen so far in these 1947 pictures have been two-man cars.  One has to hope that there is a conductor or railfan putting the rear pole on the wire.

I am surmising that this car was a southbound short turn at 39th and Vermont OR the car is at Slauson and Central (it looks more like the former to me but I don't remember a center of track safety zone there, as there was at Slauson and Central).

The U line's Vermont street portion ran from Exposition Blvd. to Florence Ave. (the F line went beyond Florence, to 116th St.).  The portion south of about 63rd St. was in center-of-the-road private right-of-way.  I don't recall any short turn crossover between 39th St. and Florence Ave.
