Los Angeles Railway
643 on Route U
July 10, 1947
7th and Central, quite near
the (former) SP Central Station (actually, a depot). Notice the overhead
of the line crossing here. Catenary hung by PE because of its use
of 7th St. by box motors and RPOs which would run from the surface tracks
(express and mail) behind the 6th & Main PE building (under the elevated)
to the four tracks via 8th Street Yard. One of the few places where
LARy/LATL cars ran under catenary, for 7th St. was dual gauge at this time
and was also used by its J and R cars.
