Los Angeles Railway
1424 on Route 5 near the
carhouse
June 30, 194
This slide is near Inglewood
Park Cemetery. The LA&R used to have a funeral car, Descanso (Peaceful),
that left the main near here on a spur into the cemetery. It had a cut
out in the side for the casket. My great-grandfather is buried there and
the family used the car.
It has been preserved, after
many years of sitting near the top of the Cajon Pass on land leased from
the AT&SF by a rail fan group who used the car to rail fan the pass.
It is now at the Orange Empire Museum.
