Los Angeles Railway
1445 on Route S at 8th Street
& Western
Look at those shiny pull-offs
in the curve. That overhead is NEW! It was the end of the S
line after it was removed from Western Ave. The car in the background
indicates this picture was taken no earlier than mid 1955. This was
the last line to use the double ended cars. The patch in the pavement
around the switch and the new wire diverging behind the car to a jug handle
using 8th place and one extremely short block on Western as a loop was
put in to allow the use of single ended PCC cars.
