Los Angeles Railway
2501 on a fantrip on South
Vermont
February 16, 1947
I was only ten on this date,
so I wasn't on the trip. Still, I believe the photo to be just south
of Florence Ave. on Vermont. The standard in the background, in LARy
colors, is a U car, which will turn back at the
crossover ahead of it.
Until August of 1947, service south of here on Vermont was provided by
the F line. After the August, 1947, abandonments (which included
the U line), the F line was shifted off the abandoned Hoover street trackage
parallel to and two blocks to the east (right) of here and instead operated
on Vermont all the way from Santa Barbara Ave. (ca. 40th Street) to 116th,
where if ended facing the Pacific Electric crossing at right angles.
