Los Angeles Railway
3060 on Route V at Monroe
& New Hampshire
This picture is after 1955,
since before that time PCCs were not assigned to the V line. It was
after the May, 1955, abandonments that rail service reductions were substantial
enough to allow for PCC-only operation of the remaining lines. Note that
sign on the front of the car: "Take This Car to Bullocks Downtown."
This sign graced the PCCs for years (in fact, it is the only front advertising
sign I really remember on the PCCs), but the V line was the only remaining
line that did not go downtown. It was the heaviest crosstown line,
bus or rail, on the entire system.
